How to spin your front seats 180°

Updated: May 20, 2020

In this blog, we are going to help you find out if your van has a swivel seat base and what you need to do to add them to your campervan.

Does my van already have a swivel base installed?

Now the concept of it is very simple and your campervan may already have one. The easiest two ways of finding if your seat has a swivel base are, firstly, there will be an extra handle. It is usually on the side of the seat bellow the chair and when released will allow for your seat to rotate 180 degrees and secondly, your seat will sit slightly higher on the base. It is very rare for non-converted vans to have swivel seat bases and most seats do not have them from the factory.

So what do I have to do if my seat doesn't rotate?

If your vehicle doesn't already have a swivel seat then you will have to buy a swivel seat base to retrofit onto your existing seat bases. The swivel bases are different depending on the vehicle that you are fitting it into as every van has different bolt patterns on the seat base.

How do I fit one of these into my vehicle?

Swivel seats are relatively easy to fit if you have the factory seats and bases installed. The issues starts if you have retrofitted seats from a different vehicle already installed. In the video below we show you how to fit the Rusty Lee seat bases into your T5.
